ACU Highlight MOD Modification

Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding a small modification I made to an existing mod.
The original mod was created by 4z0t, and as far as I understand, only the original author is allowed to upload updates or reuploads. I don't want to publish a modified version without permission.
My change is very small: I simply increased the strategic icon size by 200%. On 1440p (2K) and especially 4K monitors, the original icon is too small for my taste. I still want to use the original yellow ring and everything else remains exactly the same, it's just scaled up to improve visibility.
Is there a proper way to share something like this without violating the original author's permissions? For example, could it be released as a patch that only replaces the icon, or would I need to get explicit permission from 4z0t first?
I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

If you want to upload your modification of an existing mod, you need the authors permission.
Not sure what you mean regarding "patch". The authors mod will not be overwritten by changes someone else does.
If you cannot reach an author (which wont be the case here, he is active in the faf discord) you can open a vault ticket on discord.
