Peculiar AI behavior
-
Hello! Posting this because I'm new here and I have no idea if anyone has encountered this behavior so apologies if this has already been addressed. So ever since being introduced to this amazing game about 8 years ago (Seen it in stores when it first dropped but at the time I was too young to buy my own games and the family didn't have a computer that could run it.) I've had a blast with it and still do. The vast majority of my time is spent with matches is spent with AI cause my self esteem is way too low to think I stand a chance against other players, especially coming in this late (I can barely keep up with anything higher than adaptive). But ever since i started playing it through the FAF client I've noticed the AI will get a little reckless before we even get to mid-game, It will take it's ACU and practically suicide charge towards my base all by itself even when I've got a wall of defensive turrets up in its path. This is especially the case on Williamson's bridge or another map that has a straight path between our start points (I have to drop its health a bit until it retreats then have the turrets hold fire if i want the match to last longer than 2 or 3 minutes). I am playing most of these games with mods that speed up the economy a little, but only because I'll sometimes be playing at work when it's slow enough to do so (please don't tell my boss) This has however happened a few times even before i started trying mods out. So my question(s) is; has anyone else observed this behavior? is this a bug or something I'm not aware i did? is the bolstered eco messing with the AI somehow? Or is this it's attempt at nuking me early game? I did read somewhere this is an employed tactic when the victory condition isn't Assassination, but even then it's by players, never seen the AI try it even on cheating difficulty, they used to give their ACU's even better protection than a paragon.

Hello and welcome to the community
I've only occasionally encountered the behavior you're describing. But I do think it could be related to your economic advantages.Regardless, I would advise you to make good use of the many AI models that FAF offers. M27 / M28 / RNGAI / UVESO

They each use their own tactics, with M28 currently being the strongest AI. At least in my opinion.

I don't have the time to look at your games right now as I'm about to kick off my training session with nine trainees in a minute. I suppose, you're maybe making some mistakes slowing your own eco down. If you want someone to take a look, feel free to join us over at the FAF Dojo. We offer free voice-based coaching.
