The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!

I have my FAF client on one of my drives and my mods on another and the one the mods were on failed on me and i was unable to change the location getting this error. i did find that a full reinstall fixes it but it seems like an issue on how FAF handles moving/changing the mods location

If you create the folder in the path manually "E:\FAF Mods", it should work again.

are you saying to rename and letter one of my drives and folder to match the file path because the drive it was on is no longer operable. just to clarifyas i have already fixed it with a reinstall of faf but may be helpful to someone else

You can also just edit the prefs file directly

One of my ssd failed on me. I can't change mod directory. I can't play anything through faf. I can't find the "prefs" file Sheikah. I deleted faf installation. I deleted user> app data > local > faf. and program data. and I can't find any other references to where faf keeps getting the drive directory when I install it. Very frustrating. Does it save my faf mods folder directory listing on a web server somewhere.

Something worked. I installed faf to another ssd. Then uninstalled. Then back to my main drive. Now it works.
