What's predatory about it? What's malware about it? Genuine question, cuz I'm quite perplexed as to how you arrived at your conclusion. Especially as yes, you can delete your account by making single inquire about it to the [email protected] . Though it is done manually so it might take some time.
Also, just so you know. You won't be able to make new account and link it to the same game copy in the near future. So trying to do that is not gonna fly.

Account linking and such to use a community project seems very predatory, especially with the limited account features, data collection and unverified software tag due to not playing for verification licenses I assume. Genuine question, Can you prove they don't sell or do anything else with the data they collect or that any of their trademark claims are true? See GTA V's mod lawsuits as a small reason to believe the piracy statement made is false.

We use Steam/GOG account linking, to prevent abuse of malicious users and to make sure every player has a valid game license.
We do not sell your data or use it for anything shady. Check out our Privacy Policy, also we obey the GDPR law.
I have no idea what it is with the GTA V mod lawsuits and how they relate to FAF - This community exists for over ~17 years by now, TMK.
Our development team is highly dedicated to transparency and security. The software is open-source, meaning you can review the code yourself at our GitHub if you have concerns about its integrity.
I would love it if you gave the community a chance. FAF is a passion project built by players, for players. If you have more questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

Another thing that is worth mentioning is that FAF association is an actual legal entity based in Europe. Privy to all it's laws. So it's not like this is just your standard mod you find on Nexus or somewhere.

@magge @TheVVheelboy I don't intend to use the service and I mentioned the GTA V mod lawsuits because it's a very similar situation, even if we discount data, verification licenses and piracy claims. I don't like the account linking and the lack of transparency in not outright saying "you will not be able to unlink or erase your account afterward. I just wanted a few maps so that seems shady enough.

I am having a very difficult time finding maps online. I was going to use it to get maps then unlink.
I am very happy with the vanilla experience other than lack of maps. -
Our entire project is open source, even the infrastructure. So you can look for yourself what data we collect. The association finances are accessible to association members which everybody can join. We turn down / ignore offers for paid content and decided for ourselves that we do not even want sponsored tournaments.
Yes obviously we are very shady. There must be a hidden master plan behind this non profit strategy.
