The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!

Can there be something that allows us to go back to the regular Build UI the new one on the side of the screen breaks

Afaik nothing has been done to the build UIs.
Did you by chance use alt+up/down to move the ui elements?
