When I tried to play the original campaigns through FAF, I noticed that the voice lines weren't playing. The FA-campaigns had no issues whatsoever.
Maybe a custom campaign wouldn't be fully voice acted, but I had played the original campaigns, and they have full voice acting, so I decided to investigate.
I found no related information on the forums or the wiki. I had already explored the game files, and I had discovered that there were voice files present. As i was writing this post as a question, I decided to look closer.
What had happened, was that under /faforever/sounds/, two folders had been created. A folder named "voice" and a folder named "Voice". "voice" only contains the xsb/xwb-files FMV_Vanilla. "Voice" contained all the voice lines.
When I renamed "voice" to ".voice" to hide it, suddenly all voice lines worked again. Clearly FAF is clever enough to ignore casing but not built to consider two voice folders. I would like to confirm a few details:
What is the correct name for the voice folder?
Giving the pascalCase naming scheme in the parent folder, I will default to "voice".
Are there any issues likely to arise by placing all audio files in the same "voice"-folder?
Given the fact that only one folder is used by the game, and that there are no duplicates, my expectation is that, no, there is likely no issue whatsoever, thus I have placed all voice files in the same folder.
For context: this happened on Linux. I don't know the state of the sounds-folder directly after installation or after downloading a first campaign with downloaded voice files. I have tried downloading other campaigns with voice lines to see if it defaults to "Voice" somehow, but I seem to already have most of them. I have tried deleting the voice files for Procyon 16, then downloading the mission again, but that didn't seem to do anything. That's all I have.
