The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!
I get kinda the same thing if I try to play in the afternoon, lots of Russian players at that time.
The simple solution is tmm, and what's funny is there is no lag even when I'm playing Russians
