The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!
An idea..
you may now be logged into a different profile on your local computer. By profile, I mean a local account like "mom" or "smoker". You can check this by looking at c:\users to see if there is a different account you are on.
