Unable to start Supcom / FAF on Lenovo Legion Go
-
Hi Guys,
I am trying to start Supcom (Steam Version) / FAF on the Lenovo Legion Go, currently to no avail. I get the error "Unable to create Direct 3D. Please ensure the system has current video drivers". However, the current video drivers are installed.
I already searched various forums for potential solutions, but none worked.
So far, I tried the following:
- Fiddling with screen rotation (both fixing it and unfix it). This seemed the most promising approach to me as the Lenovo Legion Go is a tablet, but it did not work. See also here
- Changing Resolution to more common resolutions than 2560x1440p
- Making sure the tablet monitor is selected as primary monitor (there is only one)
- Installing DirectX 9 from the Supcom Folder in Steamapps
- Fiddling with compatibility mode
- Changing Steam Game Properties
- Changing the Game.prefs according to this suggestion. This last approach actually is the most advanced as I am able to forward to the FAF game setup screen and setup a custom game. However, I am unable to proceeed to the actual game from there as the windowed game only shows a black screen (although I can hear the ACU spawning and see the menu asking me if I am sure to quit upon closing the window; yet in the next run the Game.prefs is completely overwritten and therefore I receive the original error message, unless I alter the Game.prefs prior to every next start).
What can I do to get Supcom / FAF running on the Lenovo Legion Go, ideally without having to change the Game.prefs prior to every run?

The one piece of advice I can give you is to try to mark game.prefs as read-only; that might prevent the game from editing the file.
Hopefully, there will be someone who can help you more!

Thanks for your advice. I am not sure if it's good to make the Game.prefs read only, as it may save information on AI-enemies inside (from my understanding).
Using this tip I was able to get vanilla Supcom running at least by altering the start options in steam preferences for the game: %s /windowed 1920 1200
However, FAF does not work yet and still produces the same error, but apparently this issue has to do with starting the game in fullscreen. Maybe this helps in further troubleshooting.
