Perma unit download

Why is that every lobby I join I have to wait 1-10 minutes for client to download and/or prepare units?
Even join lobby's having just played a game, or playing several games, 5 games, each time I join a lobby I have to wait for it to download stuff.
I already have everything downloaded no?
I would understand this if the game had just updated and units have been changed for the sake of a balance patch or whatever.
I just don't get it. And it's frustrating since this can and often results in losing out on a game due to wait time.

There has indeed been an update ~30 minutes ago and if you tried to join beta/develop games (which might have been hosted due to the crash bug in the last game version) you need to download the game files each time you switch.
There is a setting to keep a certain amount of game versions however to reduce this.
