The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!

@Crimsonz I think you are vastly, vastly overestimating the impact of any balance changes on FAF to the story missions and underestimate the performance gain and fixes you get. I also think there is infact an option (or mod?) to disable support factories.

In theory, you can download the old balance patch, which has not yet had factory rework and other changes. But I do not know exactly how to run it. It may be enough to delete all new balance patches from the folder. But it's better to check with the technical specialists.

@Sheppy sure maybe I could be overestimating or underestimating different things. I played a mission of FAF and I wouldn’t say anything feels “drastic” perse. It’s been a bit hard to gauge even after reading up and down the FAF website and checking the wiki of some of the balance changes. From other comments I’ve read there do seem to be a plenty good number of balance changes all in all. Which is why I was wondering to just play the original game first to see how it was originally designed and put more time in FAF eventually. I was hoping if I could at least experience this with the Hotbuild mod but looks like that may not be possible.

Where would you see the option to disable support factory? I can’t find it. Either way thanks for your comment. Maybe I’m overthinking it but hope to explore this

@Skrat thanks. Which forum could I ask the specialists? Would you happen to know?

@Crimsonz Ask in the official discord FAF. I'm not 100% sure that it's possible to do this, but if there's anywhere you can get an answer, it's there. https://discord.gg/mRw9cxW6n

I tried to play the base game the other day, just for nostalgia's sake, and it was basically unplayable, due to the 'muscle memory' of using HotBuild. So I know what you're experiencing.

Back in 2012, when GPGNet shut down, someone archived most of the available mods from the original game. They are available here:
                https://gpgnet.obliteratingwave.co.uk/Vault/Individual-Mods/

HotBuild is not one of them, as far as I can tell. It definitely existed before the shutdown, as documented in this video:
                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCIMiX9AABQ

It was called 'Zulan's Hotbuild UI Mod' at that time. It requires GAZ_UI, I believe, which is in that archive. Searching the web was a dead end. If someone had a really old install on a old machine or a backup, that might be the only way to find a copy of Zulan's.

i remember having "hotbuild.zip" and afaik you don't need to unpack it for it to work, just place it in your mods folder... and i was looking for GAZUI but could not find it
never tried to use that old hotbuild tho.
Will check my files later today in about 8-10 hours

Strangely enough, there is a 'Hotbuild' uploaded by Zulan in the Mod vault! It's from 2015. When I click Install, it does not appear to install it. However, when I checked my mods folder, there is directory named 'hot' which contains the mod. I assume the client is blocking the mod, because Hotbuild mod was 'banned' when the feature was integrated into FAF. The 2015 version appears to be a modified version designed to be compatible with Nomads. I'm going to see if I can get it working on the Steam version of SCFA.
