Could i suggest the ability to change just your own icon colour via the team colour options
maybe this already exists and i am just blind but whenever i try to change just my own colour in tmm or whenever it also changes every other players colour.

I'm afraid this won't be possible. The entire feature is one large assembly patch and those are very difficult to customize in such a way.
