Grey Screen - Alt Tab

I recently rejoined the FAF community after a short break. I noticed during gameplay, if I alt tabbed, or even worse If a windows notification popped up during a game, I would be met with a grey screen, and a crash report.
The obvious short term solution to this is to use windowed mode for display, however I don't seem to be able to do this either, after applying the windows mode in game, screen goes black indefinately.
Anyone else experienced this problem?

@system_failure do you have a multi screen setup? Friend of mine had similar issues with 3 monitors. But unfortunately I don't know a fix.

@harzernoob Nope, just one monitor. This has never been a problem before for me

Your changing resolutions is approximate cause of if. Full screen gamed but windowed lobby is easiest way to trigger it

Ive managed to switch to windowed mode.
