Bit of a late addition to the topic, but am a new player and noticed it. I think how many players stay for 2 years isn't that interesting. What'd be more interesting to me is how many stay for say 50 or 100 games.

As mentioned the lobby can be a fairly hostile place for new players. I'm at about 50 games now and around 900 rating, but still 'grey', which means I still get excluded from a fair amount of games. Now, I understand, because balancing with grey players can be difficult. But it doesn't help new players get into the game, and feels discouraging.

That said, the game is great, and the community is passionate, and a fair amount of resources are available. I find Jagged's stream an excellent resource. And the 1v1 and 2v2 matchmaking are a lot of fun. Also a bit discouraging for the first few games perhaps, but as long as the rating gap isn't tooo large, it can be quite good/educational. And some higher rated players will give you some advice after or during the match, which is awesome.

Hi Evan, still great to see this series even with some gaps. Really good way to improve, and it's inspiring me to go pick up some ladder to do the same thing. Laddering does seem to give more direct feedback on your gameplay, because any mistakes you may make aren't buffered by team mates, and vice versa. Looking forward to read more about your progress in the future.

Different timezone (CET), but I've had a pretty easy time finding games on the 2v2 queue. It seems like it's becoming more popular

Seems that downloading maps has fixed it. Blazing fast fiber here though, so doubt the download was a problem, unless it was a network or server side issue. But if it is, it's very consistent, which would be weird.

Hmm I think the maps used to auto-download, or at least, I didn't have this issue before. But I see a few maps I don't have yet, so will try this out. Thanks for the suggestion NoOneCares

I've had this issue, I think, since upgrading to the last FAF client. Whenever I join 2v2 matchmaker, if it finds a match, it starts up FA and goes to the 'Connecting' screen, but never finishes loading. Haven't checked 1v1 yet, will add when I do.

Will try a reinstall of faf. If it works I'll update. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!
