Hello! I play from Thailand (wired connection) and other players often complain that I lag, especially in games with Australian players.
What I found so far:
- Most of my connections go through the relay ("relay <-> srflx" in the ICE debugger).
- The ICE adapter log shows only one relay for every game: 139.162.142.250 (Linode). My RTT to it is ~208 ms, matching my traceroutes to Linode Frankfurt, so I assume it's in Germany.
- "Preferred Coturns for ICE" in the client only lists "Linode".
- Average RTT to Australian players is ~460–580 ms, while my direct traceroute to Sydney is ~360 ms. So the detour through Frankfurt seems to be the main cause.
- My NAT looks fine: normal public IP (no CGNAT) and port-preserving mapping. Some direct (host <-> srflx) connections do succeed.
- FAF and Java are allowed in Windows Firewall.
Questions:
- Is there a relay in Asia or Oceania (FAF used to have one in Australia)? If so, how can I get the ICE adapter to use it?
- Is there anything else I can do on my side to get more direct connections?
I can send my ICE adapter log privately if that helps. Thanks!
