Turns out I was just being impatient, eventually the faf client sort of crashed and opened an install wizard

Booted up FAF today to play. Greeted with a splash screen saying

"This client version 2023.1.2 is too old to proceed. The server requires at least version 2023.6.0. Please update to a more recent version"

I press the download update button which immediately changes to say "Download at 100%" and then nothing further happens, it just sits there indefinitely

I feel that while the new hq designs may look better, they look nearly indistinguishable from regular factories now, whereas the old design you could tell from a glance which was which.

So maybe adding something that sticks out more, or is more dramatically different might help.

I mainly try and play the matchmaking systems of 1v1 2v2 and 4v4, since most of the custom games are either locked to super high ratings, or are on terrible maps.

But they queue system is janky and confusing. It takes forever to get a match sometimes, and often the queue will say there's 10 people in there, but when the timer hits zero it'll still say 10 people in the queue and it'll do that 10 times without getting you a match.

I'd much rather actually play a horrifically unbalanced match than sit on the screen for 3 hours because the system is being too anal about skill ratings.

especially since the skill rating system isn't very good anyway and I tend to get steamrolled in "balanced" matches anyway.
