So I've played forged alliance through proton for a while and when I ran it through proton 7.04 it worked without issues. But recently the consensus has moved to the use of proton experimental where I've encountered an issue where the game will close during mission mode after about 15-20 minutes. I thought this was only an issue with the base game so I simply reverted to proton 7.04 and moved on with my life.
I then decided, after seeing some FAF casts, to try out FAF and during set up the instructions on github said to force the use of proton experimental in steam settings. I did that and thought It wouldn't effect anything but I just encountered the same issue, where the game closes after about 15-20 minutes, on the FAF campaign and would like to know if this is a problem other users are having with proton experimental.
If anyone knows if I can safely change back to the stable version without potentially losing online functionality or would like to help me test that out it would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I have a game log of the incident(s). I've kept trying campaign and have encountered the same issue three times in a row on the same map at approximately the same time in game, and just after twenty minutes session time according to the crash logs.

Second edit: With the map downloaded onto my system I was able to play in offline mode without a problem. I was using steams proton 7.0-6 option.
