      Well, i think the reason everything seems worse is quite obvious.. the connection issues. It's as simple as: there are connection issues > games is not fun > am not motivated to play that much (or at all) > incapable of finding games (at least high rank games).

      There are a bunch of complaints regarding this change or that change (which do have an impact), but i still firmly believe that the main issue is that i can't just start a game and know it will be a good game (connection wise).

      The first seasonal Mapgen Tournament is divided into four distinct seasons, each representing 1-2 unique biomes from Mapgen. As players advance through the tournament, they will progressively experience the biomes of later seasons, showcasing the diversity of Mapgen.

      Signup / Team setup:

      This 3 vs 3 tourney is open to everyone, single signups only with captains pick system (highest rated players pick out of the other signed up players). Captain amount depends on sign ups, but a minimum of 6 and maximum of 8.
      Lowest rated to highest rated captain for first AND second pick.
      Signups will close on the 8.01.2025 for the captains pick to then commence. Team-name can be sent after the pick is done.

      Tournament Format:

      This 3v3 tournament will be a Double Elimination with BO3s for each round in the top bracket leading up to a BO5 in the final. Loser’s round will be BO1, except for Round 3 and 4. Teams consist of 3 players.
      For every game the lower rated captain picks the first map (and then alternating) which cannot be used again. There are no Vetoes.

      • If one team member cannot participate, the player can get replaced by other registered participants
      • Rating of the player replacing the missing team member cannot be over 100 rating higher.

      Rule update.

      In order to provide more equal opportunities for both teams:

      Map pick rules for Bo3 (and only Bo3)

      "Lower rated captain picks first map, highest rated second map. After that the team who lost 2nd game choses 3rd map"

      This post? Fantastic. Clearly addresses each of our concerns, points out problems our solution has, and describes where our communication has failed.

      The situation is: mod team comes out with a (ridiculous) change. Now WE have to take the time to formulaten an article on why this is bad. You are saying it is not acceptable to just write "bad change, reverse". You want an entire article with pro, cons, examples and whatever.
      How about YOU (mod team) post a 'proposal' and not a change that might be reversed if enough people complain (obviously this is not appicable to every change, but it clearly is here).

      I don't even know how to say how ridiculous it is that a rule is getting an insanly strict update (not sure how to formulate that), and you expect people to go "Yeah ok, it helps moderation".

      Maybe a bit of an exaggeration but this is what it feels like to me.

      This is a pretty bad idea. Recall is the option for the team to vote if they want to continue the game. By disabling this, you are "forcing" play a game they might not want to continue.
      Otherwise players will just randomly quit and that is even more frustrating / confusing for the team. In most of my games if I vote to recall, and my team votes no, i continue to play (even in a brutally crushed position) because apparently my team sees a way to win. If this feature didn't exist I would just leave.

      Maybe some players don't "fully understand the impact of their choice" but they will do so after the first (or maybe only at the 2nd) recall. If they don't.. well, we can't change game mechanics because people are incapable of learning.

      This change is actually insane. Aswell as the reasoning behind the decisions. Imagine creating rules based on the size of the community. Say faf suddenly grows by 100k people. Are we now changing rules because of that?

      The real question is "who asked" (as in who asked to check / control usernames). I do not mean this as a joke. Up to now literally no moderator cared until there was a report. So it literally did not matter unless someone is annoyed about you and wanted to pay you back. Now I'm supposed to stick to username from myself and i better not rename to somebody else (even by accident)!

      You (moderation team) are now saying EVERY player must know the other players. There can be no confusion on usernames. Do I even have to talk more about this?

      The example with the confusion regarding screenshots also has little relevance in my opinion. Surely chat logs must be saved somewhere, so reports should only be possible with a timestamp. Just like when reporting something ingame.

      Also, when is the discord username purge coming?
      Apparently there is a guy on FAF since 2013 or something called Nugget, so i guess i'm not allowed to have my username anymore - gg (also getting ready to report anyone with Nugget in their name).

      Hello.

      I propose to remove the game.
      This is not a secret and everyone plays it. Therefore, it is not needed at all.
      It only forces you to play for no good reason at all.
      There will be no need to write and maintain any code. You can just remove it all.

      I hope at least this proposal will pass.

      Because map degenerator already creates the pass / dualgap with a 20-30% certainty and having to play this on 20x20 km map would be completely unbearable

      The problem imo is not mapgen itself, but the fact the most recent update of mapgen (already some months or prob a year ago) made mapgen 5 times worse. Presets of map terrain mostly don't even generate that kind of map, some settings arent really fixed settings but more of a suggestion, and I need 5 times longer to get a "good" map compared to before.
      Dont really know why this isnt talked about but i was even thinking of generating maps in GAF (older mapgen version) to then use in faf..

      While mapgen is the way it is, it makes 0 sense to add 20x20 (as you said), because maybe 1 out of 20 maps will be good

      Reason? Based on your comment I am assuming you don't know how to use the atlantis. Its meant to be a unit that can farm value over time and is incerdibly good at that.

      f) Cybran T3 "Pulsar" Mobile EMP Missile Launcher - needs to be re-ballanced- to short in range, to low in DPS when compared to other T2/T3 Missiles Launchers.

      What is the pulsar? Unless I'm mistaken, no such unit exists.

      g) T1 land units have their role even in the late game, but no T1 air or navy units.

      T1 navy actually has a big part in lategame, but its true that air doesn't (although leftover t1 air is relevant). But I also dont see that as a problem. Why would this be needed. The way air is balanced it just makes no sense.

      FEATURES NEEDED (Some tweaks to make game more intresting):
      h) Upgradable Hydrocarbon Power Plant - as standard feature in the game.

      Maybe. Main problem here is balance + animation.

      i) T5 Experimentals similar in idea to the End Gamers, or add to existing Experimentals upgradable slot Enhancements (like: More HP, Nano-repair, Personal Shield Generator, Radar Jammer).

      No, creating more techs just makes the individual techs less relevant.

      j) Add T2 wall.

      This is not that bad of an idea, but if you think about it, it just makes the game more static and thus more boring. So not in the direction a game should go.

      k) Make experimentals, SML and T3 Arty more expensive to force players to play more with T1/T2/T3 units instead.

      I'm all of that, but its never going to happen because its a lot of balance work. Also the fact that you list experimentals here is kind of an indication that you don't know (no offense) how to use t3 armies against them.

      From your post I can assume what kind of games you play and playstyles you see in them. I think this is mainly the fault of the map(s), not balance.

    • RE: CHARGED smd does not work.

      I have seen this before in some games where you shoot like 20+ nukes at the same time and 1-3 nukes just get ignored and land. And no, i dont mean SMDs are too slow, i mean ignore even though there are tons of SMDs. Can't provide a replay as this is probably 2+ years ago, but just wanted to say that I have seen that aswell

      Also i just saw these buttons which are pretty good (especially the "KickObs" one)
      Literally every lobby where there are 2 or more obs i cant kick one or more of them (and launching the game will just crash it) so this will be huge

      I'm pretty sure this was mentioned somewhere at some time before but can we also (like GAF) get avatars to be shown in the lobby?
      Or is there something technical preventing this from happening.
