Is there any point watching a replay after it desyncs?

I've read that desyncs happen to a replay when one of the players in that replay exits. Does that mean the replay is then broken for everyone else?

I seem to be getting a lot of replay-desyncs recently. I went on a long streak of not getting any desyncs at all, so I'm not sure what's changed. All I can think of is I've been watching more games with lots of players and that in such games its more likely that someone will drop out and cause the above-mentioned issue.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

No. From the time it desync the simulation will just drift futher away from what it should be, so the longer the desync goes on the more weird stuff you'll see.

One thing you can do is to check your local copy of the replay. Sometimes the copy saved to the server has a desync, but your local copy does not. In theory you could also ask other players from the game to send you their local replays.

@arma473 the thing is that local replay can be broken too, because it streams too as server replay, but locally.

Good info, thanks.
